AS and A2 Level – AQA Economics  and 1141 and 2141This course covers the AQA AS award for Economics specification 1141, and A2 award for Economics specification 2141.Units AS ECON1 and AS ECON2 are examined through written test paper.

Units A2 ECON3 and ECON 4 are examined through written test paper.

Course Overview
This course is designed to allow you to study at your own pace and is designed to develop an interest and understanding of economics in the real world. No prior knowledge of the subject is required, however basic knowledge is desirable. It is recommended that students have attained GCSE or equivalent communication and literacy skills in English and numeracy skills in mathematics. This course is suitable to be studied by all students irrespective of age, creed, religion or gender.

Study Time
To complete a full A level it will take in the region of 200 study hours.

Pre-requisites
To take an A Level you should have a GCSE grade C or above, or the equivalent and preferably in your chosen subject.

Support
You will have access to tutor via email who will mark your work and guide you through the course to ensure you are ready for your examinations.

Examination Centres
The examination board can provide you with a list of examination centres but it is entirely your responsibility to find a centre which will accept you as an external candidate.

Course Content
The course is comprised of 4 units.

The first 2 units, when examined and passed, provide the student with the Advanced Subsidiary GCE.

The Advanced GCE (A2) is comprised of the AS units and 2 further units.

AS Level units are: -

AS ECON 1: Markets and Market Failure

AS ECON2 : The National Economy

A2 Level units are: -

A2 ECON 3 : Business Economics and the Distribution of Income

A2 ECON 4: The National and International Economy.


Scheme of Assessment: -
At AS level
Unit ECON 2: 50% total AS marks

1.15Hrs written paper.

Unit ECON 2: 50% total AS marks

1.15Hrs written paper.

At A2 level
Unit ECON 3: 25% marks of A level

2Hr written paper divided into 2 sections

Unit ECON 4: 25% marks

2Hr written paper divided into 2 sections

          Section A: One mandatory data response question

          Section B: One question from choice of three. Each question has two parts.

A. Tutors are all working Teachers or Lecturers so contact is by email only.

Q. Why can I not take my exams when I have completed the course and why do I have to wait?
A. Exams are taken at the same times as schools and colleges and are not flexible.

Q. I want to take my exams but there are only a few months to study, is this possible?
A. Depending on the time of year, it is sometimes impossible to complete your studies in a short space of time as your work has to be marked and checked. More importantly the examination boards have cut off times which are not flexible. See our web site for further information.

Q. Will I receive UCAS points on completion of this course?
A. Yes all of our A Levels carry UCAS points. The number of points awarded will depend on the grade you achieve.
