Teaching Assistant [ICS A27] 579.00 521.10

Course Overview
There's never been such a high demand for teaching assistants, in fact schools are crying out for people with good credentials.  So, if you think you'd enjoy working with children, are interested in learning and education, and could work well under the supervision of a teacher, this could be the rewarding career you've been looking for.

You'll need to be energetic, well organised, responsible, a good team worker, and proficient in both numeracy and literacy.  If you have these skills, then you could be working in this rewarding role in the very near future.

Or, perhaps, you are already working as a Teaching Assistant?  If so, this course is ideal if you want to gain a recognised qualification as proof of your expertise.

Key Topics
The Learning Environment
Supporting Children's Welfare and Wellbeing
Supporting Oracy and Numeracy
Supporting Learning Activities
Supporting Behaviour Management

You must be over 16 to take this course and be educated to at least GCSE standard D-G, or hold an NVQ Level 1, or a GNVQ Foundation Certificate.  If you are already working as a Teaching Assistant, or if you have considerable classroom experience, perhaps gained through voluntary work, then it is not essential to hold these set qualifications.

Study Time
180 hours approx. For example: 7.5 hours per week to complete in 6 months, or 4 hours per week to complete in 12 months. Study as little or as much as you wish.

As an ICS home learning student, you will have your own personal tutor helping you with your course work and with any questions you may have.  Plus our team of Student Advisors are only a phone call away for all the practical advice you may need - so we really are with you 100%.

Exam Details
This course includes four assignments that you complete as part of your coursework and then forward to your tutor.  Once your tutor has marked and graded your work, they'll send it back to you with their comments.

What our students say
"The course materials were very easy to work through and clearly set out. Whenever I needed to speak to someone at ICS, I received good information and all the support I needed throughout my course. I would definitely recommend ICS - in fact I already have and I hope to take another course in the near future"  Claire Bottomley, ICS Graduate, Surrey
