Drawing and Painting

Course summary
This course is designed for anyone who wants to extend their skills and creativity in the use of drawing and paint based media. The course involves the use of a wide variety of media and materials, both conventional and unconventional, in the exploration of creative ideas, and the development of a personal visual language.
The course is intended to develop more advanced drawing and painting skills, and to allow students the opportunity to explore elements such as line, tone, colour, perspective and composition in depth. The course also examines the language of drawing and painting in a variety of contexts, both as an exploratory tool, and as a means of creating finished works of art. Students will work from a wide range of primary and secondary sources, and will learn how to use drawing and painting as the basis for personal creative interpretation.
Certification
This course leads to the award of the Level 2 Certificate in Design and Craft from the City and Guilds of London Institute, the UK's leading awarding body for vocational qualifications.
Entry requirements No formal entry requirements, although some previous experience in Art and Design is desirable.
