Introduction to Fashion Design consists of one unit. This unit is made up of three stages: Looking and Recording, Development and Outcome.
Students work to a given brief, and are encouraged to develop conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills. The course includes the following:
• Introduction to fashion trends and predictions.
• A simple approach to market research.
• Researching fabrics and trims.
• Creating a mood board.

• Creating original fashion design ideas.
• Developing, evaluating and selecting design ideas.
• Producing specification drawings.
This course is suitable for those who have creative flair and an interest in Fashion, as well as a desire to produce original work and make a personal statement. On completion of this course, students may wish to progress to “Designing for Fashion”.
