GCSE – Controlled Assessments
Students need to realise that GCSE assessment is undergoing significant changes. The usual method of submitting coursework will no longer be available for many subjects. To reflect these changes, many of our courses have been written to the new specification, and so there are implications for students.
Some specifications will remain the same for this year (2010) and next, but there are those where the student will need to find a centre which is able to not only handle their entry, but also carry out the conduct of the Controlled Assessment(s). This will have to take place under the supervision of a member of the centre staff, and may last up to 7 hours in which time the student will be able to write up their previous research.
Students should also be conscious of when the certification is available for that subject depending on whether it is a Full or a Short course. All details are available on the AQA website at www.aqa.org.uk
It is the student’s responsibility to find such a centre. It is advisable to find out the financial implications of registering with a centre for this purpose.
