If you want to put yourself in the driving seat with an employer and learn how to use the most common computer applications efficiently and productively, you should enrol on the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) course.
The ECDL is the ideal qualification to have if you want to gain a fundamental understanding of IT. And because it's recognised throughout Europe, you'll also have an internationally recognised qualification - positive proof of your new skills. You'll cover topics such as word processing, plus learn how to manage files, but that's not all. The skills you'll learn with the ECDL will also help you improve your productivity at work - something an employer, or prospective employer will really appreciate.

Pre-requisites
The great news is that you don't need any previous experience to take this course.
The minimum system requirement to run the CD is: 486DX 66MHz CPU, Windows 95 or later with a Microsoft compatible mouse. At least 65MB RAM. SVGA monitor with at least 1MB video RAM running at least 800x600resolution (256 colours). CDROM 2x speed. For audio, MCP compliant sound card with speakers or headphones.
Study Time 45 hours approx. For example: 4 hours per week to complete in 3 months, or 1.5 hours per week to complete in 9 months. Study as little or as much as you wish.

Exam Details
To gain your ECDL qualification you must pass one theoretical and six practical tests, which will be administered by the nearest accredited Test Centre to your home. You will need to arrange you ECDL licence and exams with the British Computer Society (www.bcs.org) . But don't worry, by the time you come to taking these, you'll be an expert in the individual fields. Please note exam fees are additional to course fees.
