Who can take the Beauty Therapist course?
The course is from UK Open Learning, one of the UK’s leading distance learning providers. You don’t need any special qualifications to sign up for the course; it is open to anyone.

What qualification will I receive?
Qualification:
Level 2 Award in Beauty Therapy plus a UK Open Learning Diploma.

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Level 2 NCFE Award certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland"

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

Is the Beauty Therapist course a recognised qualification?
The course has been mapped against the National Occupational Standards for the Beauty industry set by habia.

Will I be able to become a Beauty Therapist after taking the course?
Not on its own but if you attend our practical assessment training you will be able to obain Insurance. You will need to take your portfolio of work along to the assessment centre and you will then be assessed on your practical skills. You will need to get lots of hands on practice before attending the assessment day.

Is this course an NVQ?
No, you cannot take NVQs by distance learning - they are work based.

Do I get any equipment to get me started?

How long do I have to complete the course?
You have a full 12 months’ tutor support by a professional tutor from the day you receive the course. If we update the course, the information will either be posted on our supporting website or sent to you free of charge. To complete this course will take in the region of 100 study hours which can be spread over the 12 month period to suit you, the student.

What happens if I’ve paid for the course but find it unsuitable?
Not a problem as you can return the course to us and we can give you a full refund. However, the course must be back within 7 days and in resaleable condition with the security seals intact.

How do I complete the course?
We send the full course out with the units listed above, you then read through the course in your own time and complete the assignments which you send to your tutor for marking. There is no word count for these assignments. However, one sentence answers will be rejected and you will have to re-submit it for marking.
