Career Coaching Diploma Level 3
Course Synopsis This OLQA Quality Assured Level 3 Diploma course is designed for those who are considering becoming a career coach, working for yourself, or who are committed to coaching within their working environment or organisation. This field of work is fairly new, it has only been in operation for approximately 15 years, despite having historic origins that span more than a century.
The Career Coaching course will cover definitions, standards and models in career coaching as well as examining the core principles and concepts which enable the successful establishment of a client-coach collaborative and positive relationship.
The course consists of seven modules, each carrying their own tutor marked assignment. A final online examination will complete the course for the student.
Module 1: Beginnings: Life purpose The first module examines the role that a career coach plays along with the individually specific needs of the client. In addition life purpose, values and motivators will be examined in relation to core skills of evaluation and critical thinking. Throughout this module students will take a detailed look at the psychology of experience in order to contextualize the working environment, culture and experience. This unit will form a basis of knowledge for which subsequent modules will build on.
Module 2: Establishing the coaching relationship This module will look at ethical considerations and standards, together with the different coaching models and how to apply them to individual clients. Assessment, planning and implementation of the coaching models will be explained in detail, together with core coaching competencies.
Module 3: Levels of coaching
This module will cover the topics of insight, intuition, listening, questioning, interpretation and feedback processes; it will also deal with ending the coaching relationship. There are several recognized levels of coaching appropriate and relevant to different situations that may be encountered, client needs and scenarios; the principles and techniques for these levels will be explained throughout this module.
Module 4: Using Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) in career coaching This module will take a brief look at the principles and practices of NLP in relationship to career coaching and give definitive examples of application.
Module 5: The job search Within this module the student will study the areas of marketing plans, strategies and organizational skills that are all vital for the process of searching for a job. The processes of tactical searching and networking, together with curriculum vitae design and promotion will also be explored that will lead onto the following modules. Definitive and relevant examples will be given.
Module 6: Interviews and interview strategies This module will help prepare an individual for the interview process and run through strategies that can be followed and used during the interview process. Skills will range from pre-interview preparation such as researching the organization who is conducting the interview, interview techniques such as how to act whilst in the interview, and the post interview follow up. This module will also teach the student how to react and cope with offers and rejections.
Module 7: Bringing it all together This module looks at how to put the coaching models into practice within the working environment, together with summarizing and collating relevant key concepts. Example worksheets will also be featured in this module.
Entry Requirements All students must per 16 years of age and above.

Further Information These require a minimum prior learning to GCSE standard in order for students to manage study and the assumed knowledge within course content.
They provide an ability to gain and apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding in a specific subject at a detailed level. Level 3 qualifications such as A levels, NVQ3, BTEC Diplomas etc. are appropriate if you plan to progress to university study.
Level 3 courses which are not examination board accredited can assist you in career development, continued professional development, personal development, and provision of a basis for further study.
Progression from level 3 is to specialist learning and detailed analysis of a higher level of information (for example university level study, Diploma Level 5 study).
Level 3 Diploma The Quality Assured Diploma is a Level 3 equivalent on the National Qualifications Framework. The Diploma is a 1 year course which is self study and is examined by online examination. The Diploma is awarded by Oxford College. Upon completion of the course you will receive certification awarded by Oxford College.
Your course is delivered online via the Oxford Learning On Campus website.
